[Content]
The field of chemical physics embraces many areas of science, including chemistry, physics, materials, engineering and optics/lasers. This book is intended to provide a sampling of the latest advances in these areas. It consists of fourteen chapters written by outstanding scientists across the world carrying out research at the leading edge of their disciplines. The topics addressed in this book include: superconductivity in doped fullerenes; nonlinear optical processes in polymers and gaseous molecular systems; properties of radiation and laser development; surface metallization and growth of carbon nanotubes by chemical vapor deposition; two-dimensional liquid helium; ionic conduction in solid electrolytes; and quantum mechanical techniques for calculating excited states and for studying the harmonic oscillator in dissipative systems. .
